About the Item

A richly decorated French porcelain cachepot in the style of Sèvres, dating to the late 19th century and mounted in finely chased gilt bronze. One side features a Rococo fête galante scene after Boucher or Fragonard, with a young woman being playfully pushed on a swing by a companion while others look on—rendered in a delicate palette of mauves, pinks, and woodland greens under a leafy bower. The reverse features an exuberant bouquet of roses, pansies, violets, and tulips on a white reserve, each detail highlighted by exquisite hand-enameling and gilding. The cobalt bleu céleste ground is enriched with scrolling foliate gilt cartouches, and the sides are mounted with cast bronze satyr-mask handles suspending naturalistic garland-form handles. The rim and foot are further mounted with pierced and textured ormolu in the manner of fine Parisian bronziers. The interior is glazed in white, and the base bears an interlaced “L” mark in underglaze blue, referencing 18th-century Sèvres models. Measurements: 9.5" high x 10.5" wide x 8" deep
