About the Item
A fine signed antique French porcelain planter.
By Samson et Cie.
In the Famille Rose style.
With fishscale decoration throughout, white cartouches with painted floral sprays, bianco sopra bianco (white on white) accents, and a gilt rim and highlights.
With figural ram's head handles.
Marked to the base.
Likely conceived of initially as a jardiniere, it doubles very well as a wine bucket or champagne cooler.

It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition.
Condition Details:
There is a sizeable spot of noticable glaze loss to the interior and rubbing to the gilding (primarily to the rim). There are some tiny bits of fritting to the bianco sopra bianco decoration, a firing flaw in one ram's head, some wear to the painted decoration. Otherwise, there are some fine
light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
