This exceptional Bauhaus era ceramic bonsai planter or cachepot was designed by the renowned designer Eva Zeisel and produced by the Schramberger Majolika Manufaktur (SMF) in Germany. The piece features a striking and vibrant constructivist pattern typical of Zeisel's avant-garde Art Deco work. The decor is characterized by sweeping arcs and bold color contrasts in hues of blue, yellow, and orange, highlighting the dynamic movement and architectural influence of the period. This ultra-rare collector's item reflects the geometric and modernist tendencies of Bauhaus design while simultaneously showcasing Zeisel's signature flair for artistic expression. The planter stands on elegantly arched feet and is marked on the base with the manufacturer's "SMF" logo, model number "3170," an impressed sun motif, and an old inventory number "166." in red overglaze.
