About the Item

A traditional French confit pot of cylindrical form with a thick rolled rim and applied loop handles. Made of robust stoneware and finished in the classic two-tone glaze associated with Southwestern French storage pottery: a rich honey-brown slip-glaze covering the upper section and rim, above an unglazed or lightly glazed olive-brown lower body. The surface shows turning marks, small kiln imperfections, and expected wear from utilitarian use. Originally used for preserving duck and goose confit in cool cellars, the pot retains strong rural character and decorative appeal. A fine, authentic example of 19th-century French provincial pottery.
