About the Item

A richly detailed 19th-century French iron and brass jardinière, shaped with a graceful boat-form silhouette and densely worked scrolling ironwork. The sides are defined by intertwined volutes, fleur-de-lys-like motifs, and a central rosette, all backed by a warm brass liner that adds depth and contrast to the dark patinated frame. The forged handles curve outward in an almost architectural manner, giving the piece presence whether used fireside or purely as a decorative accent. The brass liner is removable and retains its original hand-soldered seams and soft, aged surface. The iron base rests on curled feet that lift the form just enough to feel light despite its sturdy construction. At 28.5"W x 14.5"D x 19.75"H, the scale works equally well for logs, rolled textiles, kindling, or as a dramatic planter in an entry or garden room. A handsome, practical French piece that carries both craftsmanship and character.
