About the Item

Hollywood Regency Chic: Pair of Italian Vintage Faux Bamboo Ceramic Cachepots, Circa 1960s (Two pairs available) A pair of stylish and highly decorative vintage Italian ceramic cachepots (planters), dating to the height of the Hollywood Regency era. Each pot features a distinctively hexagonal form, modeled in high relief to simulate a cluster of vertical bamboo stalks tied together. The surface is finished with a glossy, hand-painted glaze in varying shades of chartreuse green, lime, and soft yellow-cream. This variegated coloring effectively replicates the natural texture and organic irregularity of live bamboo. The interiors are glazed in a clean white. These planters are quintessential examples of the "Palm Beach" or "Hollywood Regency" aesthetic, designed to bring a touch of the exotic and the tropical into the mid-century interior. Markings: Stamped: Marked on the underside MADE IN ITALY. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Glaze remains glossy and vibrant. Measurements: Height: 7 1/2 inches (19.05 cm) Diameter: 10 inches (25.40 cm) Interior opening: 7 1/4 inches (18.42cm Historical Context: The "faux bamboo" motif became a staple of interior design in the mid-20th century, popularized by designers who embraced the "Hollywood Regency" style. This aesthetic blended Neoclassical lines with theatrical, exotic elements. In the 1960s and 70s, Italian ceramic workshops produced high-quality export wares to meet the demand for this "tropical chic" look, which saw a major revival in the 1980s and remains popular in "Grandmillennial" decor today.
