About the Item

The “Meche” Pot is a stunning piece made of clay and white paint. The pot features a circular shape with four delicate legs showcasing the remarkable skill of the artisans. Created by Ensamble Artesano, a collective supporting over 160 artisans across Mexico, this pot represents a vital source of sustainable income for the women who craft it, empowering their communities and preserving cultural heritage.  Designer Bio: Taller Maya is a collective of Mayan artisans from the Yucatán Peninsula dedicated to preserving and advancing ancestral craft traditions. Rooted in knowledge passed down through generations, the collective has grown since 2002, supported initially by the Haciendas del Mundo Maya Foundation and strengthened over time through its own leadership and entrepreneurship. Working through collaborative design, Taller Maya brings together traditional Mayan techniques with contemporary creative practices. Each piece produced reflects a dialogue between heritage and modernity, resulting in objects that carry both cultural meaning and contemporary relevance. Committed to fair trade principles, the collective ensures that every artisan’s work is valued appropriately and that economic benefits flow directly to their families and communities. Their collections—developed in partnership with artists and designers—serve as a bridge between living Mayan culture and the global design world.
