About the Item

S468 sculpture vase in Murano glass, design by Carlo Nason for A.V. Mazzega, Italy, ca. 1970. Available No. 1 specimen in red color and No. 2 in white color. Carlo Nason (b. 1935, Murano, Venice) is an Italian designer and master glassmaker, known for his Murano glass works and for designing lamps and furnishings with a strong aesthetic and craftsmanship value. Coming from a family with a long tradition of glassmaking, Nason has been able to fuse ancient Murano craftsmanship with a modern and elegant language. Throughout his career he has engaged in collaborations with numerous companies, including one of the longest-lasting and most fruitful with A.V. Mazzega, 1958 to 1980. During this period he designed lamps that have become true icons of Italian design. His works are distinguished by a balance of form, light, and color, but also by constant technical experimentation, which has led him to explore new forms and processing of glass, combining innovation and tradition.
