About the Item
Spectacular jardiniere, flower vase, in blue blown glass with delicate enamel painting, made in the 1890s, in France.
This exceptional, high-quality piece of craftsmanship is a wonderful example of art objects from the period shortly before 1900. The jardinière consists of a body made of blue, mouth-blown glass, mounted in a very elaborate and detailed brass/bronze setting. The front of the glass body is decorated with an incredibly delicate scene: a bee-eater in flight is depicted among symmetrically arranged calla lilies.
There is also a floral motif on the reverse. The painting is done with enamel paints and is of exceptional quality and finesse.
