Ginori, Italian Hand Painted Faience Vase, Snakes Handles Renaissance Revival
By Matthäus Merian the Elder, Carlo Ginori
Located in Firenze, IT
This Italian late 19th century Renaissance style hand painted faience allegorical snake handled vase is the artwork signed by Ginori, one of the most important Italian porcelain and majolica manufacture based in Florence. Exquisite polychromed hand painted decoration in the round inspired by ancient Rome and Greek mythology, twin serpent handles and high relief gaping masks this urn has no room for simplicity, plus it's to be enjoyed from every angle. The overall hand painting scene, in a continuous rural landscape, describes the myth of Zeus (or Jupiter) and Io - probably after an artwork of the Dutch naturalist and illustrator Merian. Round base and top are yellow ocher painted with typical Renaissance patterns. True majolica big scale vase, wonderful urn shaped form and design a stunning story to behold, giving your room and/or a special space a conversation starter for sure! Blue crowned Ginori mark and title's decoration no. 13-1915. A same shaped vase with similar painted decorations was in Celine Dion's collection sold by Christie's. Perfect structural condition, very minor wear due to age and use. Measures: H. 70, D. 44, base diameter 20 cm. The myth of Zeus and Io...

Antique Bronze Brass Renaissance Revival Jardiniere Planter w. Original Liner
Located in Lisse, NL
Stunning hand-sawn and hand-engraved 19th century planter. This antique jardiniere is another great example that shows how 19th century European artisans created stunning home accessories for the very well to do in that era. The time consuming techniques and costly materials that were applied to hand-craft this large and remarkable planter made it far too costly for your average household. The materials used were both costly and durable, which is why this rare antique after almost 150 years still looks like new and can still be used and enjoyed today. It will look amazing on your sidetable, but because this highly decorative jardiniere has no backside (it is decorated on all sides) it also makes a great center table piece. This work-of-art-planter has an amazing patina and for the original liner to still be inside this rare jardiniere...
