About the Item
Glazed ceramic pot with side handles, made in Vallauris, France, circa 1950–1960. The form is cylindrical with slightly tapering sides and two small horizontal lug handles placed opposite each other near the rim. The base is signed “Vallauris”.
The exterior shows a dark brown ground with layered glazes in red, yellow and white, creating a flowing, foamed effect typical of mid-century Vallauris production. The interior is fully glazed in a deep brown. The pot was likely designed as a cachepot or planter, but can also be used as a container for utensils or as a small tabletop centerpiece.
The piece presents well, with one small chip noted on the edge of the rim and otherwise good vintage condition, consistent with age and use.
