About the Item

Midcentury modern design red and black glazed ceramic vase planter pot holder with black painted metal base designed by Italian sculptor and ceramist Victor Cerrato for Atelier Cerrato, Italy production 1960s The sculptor and ceramist Victor (Vittorio) Cerrato, born in Cunico d'Asti Italy in 1917, opened a ceramics workshop after World War II in some premises in the Valentino district of Turin. In 1950, invited to the Exhibition of Italian Craftsmanship at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, he exhibited a sculpture of a bust of a woman. In the ‘Cerrato Ceramiche’ workshop, he produced unique pieces such as garden statues and fireplace coverings in glazed majolica, as well as furnishing and utility ceramics in small series. The ceramic sculptor Franco Garelli collaborated with the workshop from time to time. Victor Cerrati died in Turin in 2008.
