Superb Example of French lidded grand tour ormolu
bronze cast heavy duty model of a two handled Urn of Museum quality. First quarter of the Nineteenth Century, possibly Regency period.
The main bowl with lavish cast applied leaf and flower decoration and scrolling handles, ending on an ormolu spreading beaded socle. Supported on an exquisite red variegated marble mount plinth. The four sides of base encircled with a Neoclassical rectangular relief frieze of maidens and other figures. Back and front views are alike. The separate cover with a large finial depicting a standing cherub holding a swan
Condition: Superb condition with no losses, professionally re-gold plated and bronze patinated, nice surface patination to bronze. This piece is quite heavy.
