About the Item

This impressive limestone urn came from Shanxi Province, dates to the late 19th century and used to hold water. Given its relatively limited capacity, it was probably mostly decorative and found in a scholar’s garden. The surface is lightly carved with flying cranes, trees and foliage. It is in fair to good condition, with minor chips and imperfections. The branch is for display only.
