About the Item

Elegant pair of decorative cassolettes dating from the 19th century, crafted from richly veined Aleppo marble, prized for its warm tones and distinctive clouded pattern, widely used in fine decorative arts of the period. Each cassolette stands on a green veined marble base supporting a square pedestal, embellished on the front with finely chased gilt bronze mounts depicting a flaming torch surrounded by scrolling foliage and garlands, emblematic of refined Neoclassical ornamentation. The upper bowls are executed in dark patinated bronze, beautifully modeled with gadrooning, foliate friezes, and graceful scroll-form handles, resting on a sculpted pedestal base. The harmonious contrast between the deep bronze patina, the brilliance of the gilt bronze, and the richly colored marble gives the ensemble a strong yet elegant decorative presence.
