About the Item
A stunning and very high quality true pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and Porphyry lidded urns. Each urn is raised by a fine circular base with a finely detailed wrap around Coeur de Rai ormolu band. Three elegantly curved supports lead upwards with handsome paw feet and lovely acanthus leaves centering a fine rosette and striking most decorative spiraled snake and leading to charming richly chased open arm cherubs seemingly holding the Porphyry bodies. The bodies display beautiful curved and mottled designs with the removable lid displaying a charming top finial.

The urns are raised by a square base with concave corners with richly chased foliate rosettes centering beautiful fitted interlocking patterns. Above a fine tied berried laurel band two impressive Greek key designed handles encase the striking Porphyry body. Each handle displays fluted patterns and rich foliate movements with a swaging berried laurel.
