About the Item

An elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. white Carrara marble and Ormolu urns. Each stunning lidded urn is raised on a stepped square Ormolu base with concave corners. The base displays a richly chased Rais de Coeur band below the circular socle decorated by acanthus leaves. The egg shaped marble urn is flanked by two scrolled Ormolu handles with berried laurel branches. The handles are also joined at the center by two additional scrolled laurel branches on each side. The top neck of the urns are pierced with twisted rope like trims and a reeded top bands. The removable Carrara marble lids showcase a charming berried finial with leaves.
