An elegant and highly decorative pair of late 19th century French green marble urns, distinguished by exceptional quality of materials and refined bronze workmanship.
Each urn is finely turned from richly veined green marble, beautifully complemented by lavish bronze mounts of outstanding detail. The hand-carved and hand-chased bronze displays a high level of artistry, evident in the scrolling handles, foliate ornamentation, and crisply modeled classical motifs.
The bodies are adorned with oval portrait medallions framed in gilt bronze laurel wreaths, evoking classical antiquity and Empire-style design. The sculptural handles rise gracefully to the shoulder, while the urns are surmounted by elegant domed lids topped with fleur-de-lis finials.
