About the Item

This pair of cassolettes is carved from Greek marble, traditionally associated with quarries from Skyros, an island long known for the quality and distinctive veining of its stone. The marble displays warm cream tones with natural grey and honey-colored veining, giving each urn a unique appearance. The forms are classically proportioned, with baluster-shaped bodies resting on square marble bases. Each cassolette is richly adorned with gilt bronze mounts, including sculptural ram’s head handles to the sides, beaded borders, and finely chased leaf and acanthus motifs. The removable lids are topped with decorative finials. Decorative yet elegant, these cassolettes are well suited for placement on a mantelpiece, console, or sideboard, where they can frame a clock, sculpture, or serve as striking focal points in a classical, neoclassical, or eclectic interior.
