About the Item

18th Century Silver Cobalt Glass Vase, French 1st Republic, Paris 1798 Hallmarked, The removable cobalt glass liner is antique, probably the orignal. A distinguished 18th Century Silver Cobalt Glass Vase, made during the French 1st Republic, from Paris in 1798. Hallmarked for authenticity, this exceptional piece stands as a rare survivor from a tumultuous period in French history. Measuring 5 inches in height with a 4-inch diameter, it features a removable cobalt glass liner, likely the original. This vase displays the exquisite craftsmanship, where the flared cobalt glass liner elegantly sits within a finely cast and modeled stand adorned with three winged, barefoot female draped caryatids. These figures hold laurels and cornucopias, adding grace and opulence. The stand is raised on an acanthus and reeded 3.5-inch diameter pedestal base, exemplifying the artistry of its era.
