About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Russian silver posy holder; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. This exceptional antique Russian silver posy holder has a knopped, conical shaped form onto three legs. The surface of the holder has a frosted finish and is embellished with impressive engraved floral designs to the cylindrical portion. The upper portion of the body is further ornamented with two applied bands of bead ornamentation. This impressive Russian posy holder is supported by three hinged legs, each embellished with interlacing scrolling, paralleling engraved decoration. The feet conjoin once closed to form a ball motif, emanating the knopped terminal to the body. This antique posey holder retains the original pin and belcher chain; the featured pin penetrates the holder allowing a posy / nosegay / tussie-mussie to be held securely.   The interior of this impressive example of antique silverware retains the original gilding. The hallmarks to this fine Russian vase include: Maker's mark: ??? (untraced) Kokoshnik mark: unknown Silver quality / purity mark: 84 (84 zolotniks*) * 84 zolotniks is equivalent to 875 / 1000 or .875 standard silver Condition This antique Russian posy holder is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The engraved decoration is all very crisp. The Russian hallmarks struck to the surface of the holder, underside of the legs and pin are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver posy holder; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver posy holder has a conical shaped form onto three legs. The surface of the holder has a frosted finish and is embellished with bright cut engraved Greek Key fret band ornamentation in addition to stylized leaf motifs. The body is further ornamented with an applied knop encircled with bead ornamentation flanked with a scalloped border and collet set cabochon turquoises. The upper portion of this impressive example of Victorian silverware is encompassed with a protruding undulating band accented with further collet set turquoise alternating with a swagged chain articulating from ring loops. The upper rim is embellished with a large applied bead decorated border. The vessel terminates with a bright cut engraved layered leaf texture to an applied ball motif. This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver sugar caster has a baluster form onto a circular domed spreading foot. The upper and lower portions of this piece are embellished with embossed and chased bead and scroll decoration accenting concave bordered, fluted decoration all in a spiral design.
