About the Item
Sculptural Art Deco vase with large lizard handle by Swedish artist Einar Luterkort (1905-1981) for Upsala Ekeby in the early 1930s. Anthracite black and dark green shiny glaze adds to the animalistic, organic expression of this piece.
Stamped and numbered under base.
Beautiful vintage condition.
Sweden, circa 1932.
Einar Luterkort was trained as a sculptor at École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Accademia de Belle Arti di Roma in Rome and Kungliga Konsthögskolan in Stockholm. He worked as a sculptor, ceramicist, illustrator and art teacher. His work is represented at the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm.
