About the Item
This vase was designed by Anatole Riecke, a Russian glass artist renowned for his role in the Parisian Art Deco movement. Based in Paris, Riecke became particularly known for his decorative glass works.
From 1930 to 1937, he designed the glass decorations for the famous
"La Coupole" restaurant in Paris.
This elongated cylindrical vase in black opaline glass combines strength and originality. It is simply decorated with an abstract figure and cubist motifs, hand-engraved by the artist himself using natural red pigments. (The colored pigments are simply applied over the engraved motifs, giving the design a deliberately original effect.)
Each vase and each motif are unique, hand-signed and dated by the artist himself.

A. Riecke
A. Riecke was a very talented cubist artist who lived and worked in Paris in the early 20th century. His name and date are etched in the glass as part of the decorative detail. Riecke was responsible for the Art Deco glass decor of the restaurant La Coupole.
