About the Item

Hand-painted Paris porcelain centerpiece vase / cachepot, made in the 1950s Ø cm 18 h cm 14 Paris porcelain, also known as "Vieux Paris," is a type of porcelain produced in and around Paris in the late 18th and 19th centuries. Porcelain production in Paris began around 1770, with the establishment of numerous independent manufactories. The lack of a dominant royal manufacture, as in Sèvres, led to a wide variety of styles and decorations. Paris porcelain is known for its hard paste, whiteness, and fineness. Decorations range from neoclassical motifs to romantic scenes, with great attention to detail. Productions include tableware, decorative objects, statues and vases.
