This impressive vintage vase, hailing from the 1970s, is a remarkable example of the "Scavo" technique, a unique style of Murano glassmaking. The term "Scavo," which means "excavated" or "dug up" in Italian, refers to a finish that gives the glass a textured, weathered, and ancient appearance, as if it has been buried for centuries.
The body of the vase is a beautiful, deep purple color with a matte, frosted, and textured finish, reminiscent of archaeological finds. Its classic amphora shape features a flared rim and a rounded body. What makes this piece particularly special are the two applied handles on either side, crafted from contrasting white or clear glass, which add a modern and sculptural element to the design.
