Vintage 1980s Modern Red and Black Murano Glass Vase (Attributed to Carlo Moretti) This striking piece is a sophisticated example of 1980s Italian art glass, with a bold, graphic aesthetic characteristic of designers like Carlo Moretti. The vase features a tall, slightly flared, cylindrical or rectangular silhouette. Its most dramatic feature is the distinct division of color, using the sommerso (submerged) technique. The lower half of the vase is crafted from solid, opaque black glass, which transitions sharply to a vibrant, transparent ruby red glass in the upper half. The clean lines and sharp color blocking highlight a modern, minimalist Italian design sensibility, a departure from more ornate Murano styles. This substantial vase would make an arresting statement on any shelf or tabletop.
