About the Item
Large antique Japanese vase. Dating from the late Meiji period, 19th century.
Made of copper and brass with 'Cloisonne' polychrome enamel decorations.
Cloisonne is a very ancient technique, dating back to ancient Egypt, in which thin wires (usually copper) are soldered or glued to a support plate of the work to be created; subsequently, in the areas raised by the metal, the enamel is poured, thus obtaining a sort of mosaic whose tiles are exactly circumscribed by the metal strips.
These ornaments were made with this technique, with peach blossoms on a turquoise background.
Really excellent condition despite its age. Possible presence of some imperfections.
