About the Item

This Tsubo, pottery Jar is a product of, at least late Edo era (estimate 1840s-1860) estimate from the style condition. Especially, The lid is made from wood, has a good amount of wabi sabi texture and looks certain old - so I'd guess it's from Edo period at least. The surface is reinforced by the layered Washi (traditional Japanese paper), stained coated with persimmon tannin Urushi lacquer, it gives extra sturdiness water proofing to the pot. Washi layers are almost conbined together with pottery by the age, having unique wabi sabi texture on it. There's a tiny, little hole (about 0.2 in * 0.08 in), and the surface lost around that hole (0.79 in * 0.28 in), on the upper area. Also I haven't done the water leaking test, I recommend to put smaller water container inside when using as a vase. Dimensions - inner diameter of the opening : 6.69 in (170mm) Actual item weight : 12.35 lbs (5.6 kg) *** Dear customer - feel free to inquire me for the shipping fee quote.
