About the Item

A rare Art Déco glass vase designed by Josef Inwald for Barolac, Czechoslovakia, circa 1930s. This piece exemplifies the sophisticated craftsmanship and sculptural sensibility that made Bohemian glass of this era among the most sought-after worldwide. Hand-molded in smoky translucent glass, the vase features a refined ovoid form with two dramatic elephant-head handles, seamlessly integrated into the body. The handles—each a miniature work of glass sculpture—display remarkable definition in the modeling of the trunks and ears, showcasing the precision and artistry for which Inwald’s glassworks were renowned.
