About the Item

Mushroom-shaped blue glass vase designed by Angelo Mangiarotti for Knoll International, Italy, circa 1968. Knoll has produced these mushroom-shaped vases in a variety of sizes and colors. Architect, designer and sculptor, Angelo Mangiarotti has been a leading figure thanks to his eclectic career, which has seen him involved in projects of various kinds, from product design to sculpture to architecture. He was born in Milan in 1921 and, after graduating from the Polytechnic University with a degree in Architecture, he worked on the layout of the Milan Triennale in 1948. In 1955 in Milan founds a design studio with colleague Bruno Morassutti. Among Mangiarotti's most recognizable designs are those for Agape: the modular bookcase "Cavalletto," the chair "Tre3." the Eros and Eccentrico tables, made using Carrara marble. Mangiarotti died on June 30, 2012, at the age of 91.
