About the Item
A one-of-a-kind, antique pottery vase. Definitely a statement piece.
The vase has been sourced in Alsace, France. However, it has no maker's marks or signatures thus its origine and its date of fabrication are unknown. The vase has a very generous, esthetically pleasing, round shape. Since this is a hand thrown pottery piece it is slightly asymmetrical, especially the neck. However, it is really the hand-painted decor that makes this vase so special. The floral motifs are divided into six upper and six lower sections. The flowers, all different, seem to be both Art Deco and Folk Art inspired. The colors are striking, especially the red orange background. The delicate green leaf-decor on the neck tops it all off beautifully.
In good antique condition. Despite its age, the vase shows no chips, no cracks or repairs. It has not been cleaned in order to keep the patina. The surface shows minor signs of wear consistent with age (see photos). The vase is not painted or glazed on the inside.
