About the Item
A striking Art Deco style ceramic vase attributed to S. Hublet (Sylvain Hublet, 1890–1985), renowned Belgian ceramist known for his sculptural and imaginative stoneware creations.
Hand-crafted during the early 20th century, this impressive art pottery vessel combines a teapot-inspired silhouette with bold sculptural detailing. The body is enveloped in a richly textured granite-like beige and pink glaze, accented by deep black reliefs of chevrons, leaf forms, and stylized faces emerging from the surface. The dramatic handle and spout are modeled with an expressive, almost mythical quality, giving the piece both elegance and power.
Hublet’s ceramics often explored the tension between organic and geometric forms, echoing the Belgian Art Deco movement’s fascination with nature and abstraction. This vessel exemplifies that vision — an artwork that bridges function and sculpture.
In excellent vintage condition, with only the most minor wear consistent with age and material.
An exceptional Art Deco statement piece, ideal for collectors of European studio pottery, and an eye-catching decorative accent in any modern, eclectic, or classic interior.
