About the Item

Ercole Barovier (1889–1974) "Rilievi Aurati" glass bowl, round in shape, with inlaid gilt foil and a central relief motif, acid etched and gold. Circa 1940 Diameter: 20.5 cm Biographical Information Artistic director of Barovier Toso, Ercole Barovier is renowned for his experimentation with colors, textures, and precious metals, giving rise to iconic series such as Rilievi Aurati. His creativity and technical innovations contributed significantly to the worldwide renown of Murana glass in the 20th century. The Ercole vase embodies the pinnacle of Murano glass art, fusing tradition and innovation into a single extraordinary piece. Born from an idea by Ercole Barovier in the 1940s and realized with the revolutionary technique patented by Barovier&Toso in the 1930s, this vase stands out for its richly textured surface filled with reliefs and protrusions. In its molten state, the master glassmaker brings to life faceted prisms, evoking Renaissance architecture and the structure of a diamond. This meticulous craftsmanship requires great skill, making each relief a testament to exceptional artisanal mastery. The transparency of the glass, enhanced by the rostrato reliefs, gives the vase an extraordinary brilliance and a unique visual effect.
