About the Item

Beautiful and rare, vintage Murano hand blown pink spots, random bubbles and gold flecks Italian art glass flower vase. The piece is documented to the Barovier e Toso company. It is signed underneath “Barovier Toso Murano” (see last photo). The labels date to 1971 - 1984. One is the “Barovier Toso Murano Venezia” abstract lettering label, and the other is a generic clear “Vetri Murano 007” label. The vase is created in either the "Efeso" or “Spuma di Mare” bubble technique. The techniques have been reused to make this later sample. “Efeso" usually does not have gold within, that is why I am also mentioning “Spuma di Mare” which I have owned samples off, and they do have lots of gold in them. Seems like a combination of both. The color is made with tiny dots of color, pink, and also has some blue dots within. The inside is filled with gold leaf, which clings to each bubble. Would make a great display piece on any vanity, coffee table or credenza. Fill it with flowers or keep it as the artwork it is. You will be able to showcase it as a decorative piece in any room. Mid-century era. Rare technique. Collectors item. Measures 7 7/8” tall x 6 1/2” wide x 3.25” wide. Literature: Ercole Barovier 1889-1974 Vetrario Muranese, Marsilio Editori. Illustrates techniques. Page 80 “Spuma di Mare” 1930s technique. Page 119 “Efeso” 1960s technique. Art of The Barovier - Glassmakers in Murano 1866-1972, by Marina Barovier.
