About the Item
A vessel or centerpiece. Strips of clay were woven in a wooden mold to create a basket-like effect. The color comes from the natural wood-fired process. A gorgeous piece, whose surface is full of interesting detail and variation.
About Ellen Pong
Originally from the West Coast, growing up in a suburb outside of Seattle, Ellen Pong now lives and works in Queens, New York. The designer graduated with a degree in Art History from the University of California, Berkeley. Pong’s self-taught practice blends sensorial observations from both the Pacific Northwest and the chaotic streets of New York City to create furniture, lighting, and objects with a studied playfulness. She has held a solo exhibition at Superhouse (New York, NY) and participated in group exhibitions at Emma Scully Gallery (New York, NY), Marta (Los Angeles, CA), and Objective Gallery (New York, NY). Her work is held in a number of important private collections. Selected publications include Artnet, Curbed, Elle Decor, Metropolis, PIN-UP, Sight Unseen, Surface, and The World of Interiors.

Ellen Pong
Ellen Pong (b. 1995, Bellevue, Washington) is a ceramicist and designer based in Queens, New York. Her sculptural furniture and art objects have been shown by galleries like Superhouse, Marta, and Objective, and featured in publications like Curbed, Metropolis, and Elle Decor. She was listed on Sight Unseen’s American Design Hot List 2021. Ellen graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in History of Art.
