About the Item
You'll never find a richer, more gorgeous blue than the glaze on this beautiful vase or jardiniere. From the 1930s, this piece is no doubt French--the real mystery is if it's by Longwy. The pattern is almost identical to an iconic Longwy vase, but rather than the decoration being high/low relief like other examples, here it is hand-painted in black. The crackle glaze is also typical of Longwy, but the more turquoise interior is similar to the blue of pottery by Raoul Lachenal.
Condition is very good. There are no chips, cracks or restoration. There may be a minuscule glaze pop or two and there are a few areas where the crackle glaze is darker--no doubt from age. The glaze is a gloss glaze and white areas in the photos are reflections--not imperfections.
Whoever crafted this fine vase, it is a stunning example of 1930s French pottery.
