About the Item
A tall Arts
Crafts Stoneware Floor Vase possibly from one of the potteries from Zanesville, Ohio. With a molded form, slanted outward as it rises to the top with three ring bands at the top, the base spreading outward. The signature is an incised 18, in the unglazed white clay of the bottom. Small glaze pops throughout from firing procedure and seams from the mold. Impressive size and heavy.
Measurements: 18 inches high x 8 1/2 inches diameter top x 7 inches diameter base

Catalina Pottery (or Catalina Island Pottery) is the commonly used name for Catalina Clay Products, a division of the Santa Catalina Island Company, which produced brick, tile, tableware and decorative pottery on Santa Catalina Island, California. Catalina Clay Products was founded in 1927 by William Wrigley, Jr. of the Wrigley chewing gum family. He built a tile and brick pottery factory on a beach located near Avalon, Santa Catalina Island. The new pottery became Catalina Clay Products, a division of Wrigley's Santa Catalina Island Company. The pottery used local clays from the Island and had two business purposes: to produce clay building products and to provide the much needed year-round employment for Island residents.
