About the Item

Small porcelain vase realized by Villeroy Boch in the early 20th Century. It bears the blue underglaze castle mark of Villeroy Boch with the word “BONN,” which identifies it as made at their Villeroy Boch Bonn factory in Bonn, Germany. This particular mark style was used roughly from the 1920s through the mid-20th century, after Villeroy Boch took over the former Franz Anton Mehlem factory in 1921. The small blue-and-white vessel is decorated in a transfer-printed geometric and floral pattern, typical of the blue faience-style ware the Bonn factory produced. Its bulbous body and narrow flared mouth suggest it may have been intended as a small vase or possibly a decorative condiment pot or bud vase. Very good condition.
