About the Item

Chamberlain Worcester Porcelain orange-ground Botanical Campana-Form Vase, circa 1840. The Chamberlain Worcester Porcelain vase is of campana-form with an orange ground body overlaid with gilt scrollwork. To the front and back are large oval white-bordered panels painted with a profusion of flowers and leaves on a gilt ground. The vase has a square foot with the upper section painted with flowers on a gilt ground. The reeded handles are strongly modeled with bearded satyr faces as terminals. General minor wear to gilt Dimensions: 15 inches high x foot 5 1/2 inches x diameter 12 1/2 inches. Reference: Chamberlain-Worcester Porcelain 1788-1852, Geoffrey Godden, page 306, #403 for a drawing of a vase with similar terminals from the mid-1840s from the factory shape book. (VM98245).
