About the Item
Claws That Could Kill vase explores an inner landscape marked by profound
emotional shifts, reflecting M., a woman moving through a path of pain that
gradually leads her toward reclaiming her own power. The piece also reflects
her identity, her journey toward self-expression and a renewed sense of
personal freedom.
The pieces are part of the MMXV Bestiary project, which reflects on forms
of contemporary “monstrosity” emerging within a climate of uncertainty and
social disorientation. Inspired by lived experiences, the artist developed semifictional narratives that interlace complex emotional states with ancient myths of innocents transformed into monsters. Within this bestiary, mythical figures intersect with their modern counterparts, both influenced by circumstances perceived as binding and difficult to escape. Their stories overlap: claws subtly merging with contemporary symbols, tails aligning with calming remedies. Each piece embodies one of these hybrid narratives, with clay, like myth, transcending time and reflecting emotions suspended between resilience and fragility.
Claws That Could Kill was part of the performance Exhibition "The Theater of Things" the show transformed the gallery into a domestic stage — an ever-evolving space shaped by the creative voices of seven designers. Each night, one of them slept in the space. Each morning, a journalist, curator, or critic joined for coffee and conversation — exploring what it means to live among collectible pieces.
Inspired by radical gestures like Gianni Pettena’s La Casa all’Elba and Joseph Beuys’ Coyote performance, the exhibition is both lived experience and open dialogue.
