A bold 1970s cobalt blue glass vase, handcrafted in Romania, distinguished by its tall, narrow form and sculptural hooped centre. This vintage hooped glass vase has a distinctly modernist silhouette, echoing the shapely Scandinavian vases of the same period.
The central section is composed of a series of bulging rings in graduated sizes—like a classical balustrade, reimagined in glass—juxtaposed by slender tubular sections at the top and base. A thoughtful and tactile composition that balances geometry with fluidity.
The glass itself is deeply pigmented cobalt blue, with thick, weighty walls and a precisely polished rim—hallmarks of skilled handblown glassware. This richly coloured vase catches and reflects light beautifully, making it a striking standalone object or a bold accent within a collection of mid-century or contemporary art glass.
Very good vintage condition. One minute fleabite to the outer rim, likely from the original firing process. No cracks or structural damage.
