About the Item

Contemporary faceted optical glass vase by Veritas, Texas, 2016, in crystal-clear cut glass with pyramid facets and a sculptural modern form. This thick, heavyweight optical glass vase is hand-crafted from premium glass, precision-cut with rows of pyramidal facets that refract light to create depth and inner brilliance. The design is both sculptural and minimalist, representing the precision and artistry for which American art glass is celebrated. Veritas Glass, founded in Texas by glassmaker Kathleen Allen, was known for its precision-cut optical glass and contemporary design language. While Veritas is no longer in operation, Allen now creates under the brand KA Glass, continuing her commitment to clarity, form, and meticulous craftsmanship. Works from the Veritas period, such as this vase, mark the early evolution of her signature style and are increasingly appreciated by collectors of modern American art glass. Ideal as a modern glass centrepiece, this Veritas glass vase works beautifully displayed alone or with a simple floral arrangement. Its contemporary profile and meticulous craftsmanship place it firmly within the tradition of fine cut crystal vases while retaining a distinctly modern identity. The vase measures 15 cm in diameter and 15.5 cm in height. In very good condition for its age and use, with minimal surface wear. The underside is etched with the Veritas insignia, confirming its authenticity.

Mid-Century Empoli Floor Vase in Smoked and White Striped Glass, Italy, 1960s
By Empoli
Located in Glasgow, GB
A tall and quietly commanding Empoli floor vase, handcrafted in Italy during the 1960s by Cristalleria Artistica Toscana, a glassworks known for its creative approach to mid-century glass decorative arts. This piece is formed in smoked optic glass, a distinctive medium in the Empoli tradition, accentuated by swirling white candy-stripe bands that spiral upward with subtle motion. The shape is restrained yet architectural: a tall cylindrical form with softened curves and a smooth, level rim—classic attributes of Italian modernist glass design from this period. Measuring 49 cm in height with a 14.5 cm diameter, the vase is proportioned for use as a floor-standing decorative piece, but is equally suited to consoles, mantels, or pedestal display. Whether used as a vessel for dramatic floral arrangements or appreciated on its own as a mid-century modern glass sculpture, this piece speaks to the Empoli region’s legacy of innovation in blown art glass during the post-war era. The smoky transparency of the glass and the hand-applied white striping evoke movement without ornamentation. In very good vintage condition, free from chips or cracks. A strong collector’s example of vintage Italian glassware...
