About the Item
This elegant vase was created by the renowned Nymphenburg porcelain manufactory based on a design by Josef Wackerle, a sculptor who played a decisive role in shaping the manufactory's artistic development from 1909 onwards. The extremely detailed floral painting featuring insects around the rim was created by porcelain painter Hedwig Moosbauer. She worked at Nymphenburg from 1912 and is renowned for her highly nuanced and lifelike painting technique.
The colourful composition of roses, morning glories, pansies and other botanical motifs is brought to life by butterflies and dragonflies, and is set against a stylish background with gold decorations.
This exceptional piece exemplifies the artistic excellence of Munich's workshops at the beginning of the 20th century and is in very good condition.
