About the Item

The "Clip Side Down" vase is one of the first vases designed by Garouste Bonetti. This piece, made in terracotta painted red and partially glazed black, was produced in approximately ten copies for the En Attendant les Barbares gallery. Signed "B.G." . Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti, one of the most famous design duo of the 1980s-1990s, set the first major milestone in their career with Maison Jansen in 1981. In the den of stylish furniture, they proposed precious, primitive furnishings that gave birth to the Barbare style. The decorators then collaborated with the Christian Lacroix fashion house, as well as with the Néotù, En Attendant les Barbares and David Gill galleries. For twenty years, they created some of the most important designs of the second half of the 20th century: the Barbare chair, the Mask lamp and the Moon lamp. Their collaboration came to an end in the early 2000s, with Elizabeth Garouste and Matti Bonetti pursuing their careers independently.
