About the Item

Rare and beautiful, vintage Murano hand blown blue and wine red stripes on gold flecks Italian art glass flower vase. Documented to designer Ercole Barovier, for the Barovier e Toso company, circa 1966. The technique / design is named "Spira Aurata". The design has been documented and published in many of the company reference books (see last photo). The vase has a beautiful round shape, with small flared out rim. The inner layer of glass is profusely covered in gold leaf, which shows through the stripes. Would make a great display piece on any dresser, coffee table or credenza. Fill it with flowers or display as the collectors item it is! Mid-century era. Of interest to Ercole Barovier collectors. Measures: 8" wide x 6 3/4" tall. Literature: Murano Glass Themes and Variations (1910-1970), Marc Heiremans, pg. 104 illustrates technique.
