About the Item

Essence of Form Brushstroke Ochre Yellow Handcrafted Vase by Onofrio Acone One Of A Kind Dimensions: Ø 38 x H 45 cm. Materials: Ceramic. ESSENCE OF FORM An Exclusive Mediterranean Collection created for Gallerie Philia For this exclusive collection, created specifically for Galleries Philia, I sought to distill the essence of Mediterranean life—its colors, its textures, and its forms—into a series of vessels that evoke a sense of place and heritage. The vibrant hues of cobalt blue, ocean blue, ochre yellow, and meadow green are inspired by the sea, the sky, the sun, and the earth, elements that are central to the Mediterranean landscape. This collection is more than just a series of objects; it is a tribute to my heritage and an invitation to experience the beauty of the Mediterranean in a new, tangible way. The “Essence of Form” collection was born from a deep-rooted connection to Mediterranean traditions and a lifelong dedication to the art of ceramics. As an artist born in 1977, with ceramics running through my veins since childhood, I, Onofrio Acone, have always felt a strong bond with the craft. Living on the Amalfi Coast—a central paradise of the Mediterranean, where ceramics are not only an art form but also a tradition and a cultural heritage— has deeply influenced my work and vision. Every vase in this collection is crafted entirely by hand, reflecting my commitment to traditional craftsmanship. This process ensures that each piece is not unique, but also carries with it the human touch—the imperfections and variations that give it character and soul. Essence of Form is a celebration of simplicity and elegance, where modern design meets the timeless values of Mediterranean artistry. The essence of the “Essence of Form” collection lies in the meticulous handcrafting of each vase, where every brushstroke tells a story. The pigments, applied directly onto the white engobe background, are rendered in bold yet organic gestures, evoking the vibrant spirit of the Mediterranean. Each color—whether the cobalt blue, ocean blue, ochre yellow, or meadow green—has been carefully chosen to capture the natural beauty of the sea, sky, earth, and foliage. The white engobe base, created with wide, sweeping strokes, provides a textured canvas that highlights the contrast and fluidity of the vibrant hues. Every vase is a unique, hand-painted work of art, embodying the artisanal tradition of Mediterranean ceramics and the personal touch that defines Onofrio Acone’s creations. Born in Salerno on May 26, 1977, Onofrio Acone is an entrepreneur with a diverse career spanning multiple industries. Since 1997, he has been a key figure in the fields of design and interior furnishings, became a restaurateur in 2005, and in 2008, together with his closest friends, founded CINQUESEGNI, an innovative and forward-thinking winery. Onofrio’s journey began in the world of ceramics, where he had the privilege of taking his first creative steps in the workshop founded by his parents in 1982. This humble space, nestled in the garage of their home in a small town in the province of Salerno, was where he grew up surrounded by the vibrant energy of a small artisanal lab. Immersed in this atmosphere, he developed a profound passion for ceramics—a material of endless potential—and cultivated his creativity from an early age. Onofrio has never distanced himself from this art form. Although the family workshop eventually grew into a ceramic production company and later evolved into an industrial business, he has consistently remained connected to his roots. His enduring passion for craftsmanship drives him to create handmade sculptures, vases, and paintings, using only the most traditional and rudimentary techniques. Every piece is shaped entirely by hand, without the use of machinery, fostering a direct and deeply personal connection with the material.
