About the Item

European Studio Potters Two small stoneware vases, one cylindrical with an incised signature “Ernst Faxe” underneath, the other with a flared neck and yellow-brown running glaze. Marked "Tue" Designer: Ernst Faxe / Tue Manufacturer: Studio pottery, Europe Material: Glazed stoneware Dimensions: H. 11 cm, D. 7 cm / H. 13 cm, D. 9 cm Signature: Incised underneath “Ernst Faxe” and “Tue Denmark” Period: 1960s–1970s Condition: Excellent condition, with natural firing marks A decorative pair of European studio pottery vases, representing the raw and experimental aesthetic that characterized many workshops in the 1960s and 1970s, where both form and glaze were used as artistic expression. In the second half of the 20th century, studio pottery flourished across Europe, shaped by artists and ceramicists working in small workshops with an emphasis on craftsmanship, experimental glazes, and unique forms. Names such as Ernst Faxe and Tue are part of this Scandinavian studio pottery movement, where function and art merged into one-of-a-kind objects.
