About the Item
A fine Mieke Groot studio glass vase from 1982. Clear glass with a white inner layer. Decorated with pieces of applied gold foil, crackled up during blowing the piece to its final shape.
Maria Margaretha Cornelia Anna Groot (born 1949) is a Dutch glass artist. Groot was born in Alkmaar and studied contemporary artistic jewelry art at Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. In 1976, she opened a glass studio in Amsterdam. In the 1980s, she became director of the glass department at Rietveld Academie. Her work is part of the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass, the National Glasmuseum in Leerdam, Netherlands, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England and many more.
