About the Item
Lovely Finnish Modern Pro Arte Series Ceramic Vase by Pauli Vuorisalo for Arabia. A stylistic abstract design of a lady in a ballet pose is carved into the black glossy glaze of the white clay of the body.
Signed on the lower back edge Pauli Vuorisalo and bottom PRO ARTE - PV/AR - 7/94 -ARABIA- FINLAND in underglaze scrip.
New old stock, never used. Excellent condition.
Measurements: 4 1/2 inches at widest and 10 inches high.
Pauli Vuorisalo (1944-2017), was a multi media Finnish artist who started his artistic carreer age of 16 and by the age of 20, had founded an art school in Kankaanpää. Vuorisalo created paintings, graphics,ceramics, glass works and textile art. During his time as a visiting artist at Arabia in the 1980s, he designed fabrics for Marimekko, glass pieces for IIttala and ceramics for Arabia.
