About the Item

Exceptional museum-grade Lalique crystal vase, Paris, 1970s. A monumental sculptural piece in thick, heavy crystal (approximately 7 kg), signed on the base and still retaining its original gold label. Dimensions: 21 cm diameter, 2.5 cm rim thickness, 26 cm height. Designed under Marc Lalique’s artistic direction, this vase embodies the evolution of Lalique in the post-war decades, when the maison shifted from René Lalique’s Art Deco vocabulary to Marc’s more sculptural, fluid and modernist vision. The result is a striking object of pure volume and movement: deep carved petals, alternating satin and polished surfaces, and a play of light that moves through the crystal like water. The craftsmanship is extraordinary. The thick walls are hand-finished with a combination of frosted and glossy cuts that create a sense of swirling motion, while the interior remains perfectly smooth and brilliantly transparent. When placed on a pedestal or near natural light, the vase becomes a luminous sculpture, projecting reflections and shadows that animate the surrounding space. This piece is not only a functional flower vase, but a true collector’s object: a rare example of Lalique’s 1970s production at its highest level of execution. Elegant, sophisticated, and timeless, it carries the full presence of a sculptural artwork while remaining unmistakably Lalique.
